Mubarak? Not booked here, says German hospital

HEIDELBERG - The German hospital that treated Hosni Mubarak last year said Saturday there were no grounds to suggest the former Egyptian president would be back for more treatment.
German media have kept a close eye on Heidelberg University Hospital after European politicians urged Mubarak during the week to leave Cairo and get some medical care in Europe as a face-saving way to bow out.
He was forced from office Friday, with the armed forces taking power, and reportedly flew to a palace in Sharm el-Sheikh.
“As far as we know, there are no grounds whatever why he would be coming to us for any medical reasons,” Annette Tuffs, a spokeswoman for the hospital told DPA.
She said there had been no contact between the hospital and Mubarak’s entourage, nor were there any preparations under way.
His 2010 spell in the hospital was for surgery to remove his gall bladder and several intestinal polyps. On leaving he thanked the Germans for their “excellent treatment”. It was his third stay at a German hospital.
