CAIRO - The resort city of Sharm El Sheikh may be the new home of Egypt’s former president Hosni Mubarak who quit Friday, following 18 days of unrest against his 30-year rule.
Located on the southern coast of the Sinai, Sharm El Sheikh is a famous tourist destination with several luxury hotels such as Four Seasons, Marriott, Sheraton, and Ritz-Carlton.
Tourists from across the world go there to enjoy its beaches, casinos and pubs.
The city was hit by a terrorist attack in 2005 in which more than 80 people were killed.
The Egyptian tourism industry suffered huge loses due to the current mass unrest and political turmoil across the country.
