NEW DELHI - Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday set up a coordination committee for the party in Himachal Pradesh to bring greater vitality in the organisation ahead of next year’s assembly polls.

The nine-member committee is headed by party general secretary Mohsina Kidwai, who is in charge of Himachal Pradesh. It includes state Congress chief Kaul Singh and leader of the legislative party in the assembly Vidya Stokes.

Other members include Gangu Ram Musafir, G.S.Bali, Chander Kumar, Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Harbhajan Singh Bhajji and Mukesh Agnihotri.

The list does not include union minister Virbhadra Singh, who was moved from the steel ministry to micro, small and medium enterprises portfolio in the cabinet reshuffle last month. Singh is a five-time chief minister of the state. Party sources, however, said that none of the two party MPs from the state has been included in the list.

At the plenary session of the party in December, Gandhi had called for setting up coordination panels in all states for more interaction between the party organisation and legislature party.
