NEW DELHI - China has not issued stapled visas to residents of Jammu and Kashmir in the last few weeks after India raised the issue with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao last month. But the issue is far from settled, officials said here Friday.

We have not seen Kashmir-related stapled visas during the last few weeks,” a senior official said.

“Our embassy in Beijing has been in touch with the consular department of the foreign ministry in China and they have said they are working on a solution, that they are dealing with the problem. It should no longer be a problem once they are done dealing with it,” the officials said.

However, the officials stressed that India does not see the issue as “settled”.

On the arrests of three Chinese nationals on the charge of spying, the officials said the accused were in judicial custody in Uttar Pradesh. They had been found taking pictures of prohibited places. One of them had worked in Gurgaon and later went to Nepal.
