RAIPUR - A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary alleges that a corruption-mired Congress-led UPA government is making a deliberate attempt to involve Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members in the name of “Hindu terror” to divert people’s attention from its inefficiency and failures. He says no one with basic belief in Hinduism can become a terrorist.

“The Congress government is making a deliberate attempt to involve our people in the name of Hindu terror because it has got exposed for its incapability, inefficiency and involvement in mega corruptions and scandals,” BJP national general secretary J.P. Nadda said in an interview.

The BJP leader said the RSS is a “patriotic organization and people of this country know it very well. In fact, no one who believes in the basic tenets of Hinduism can become a terrorist”.

“It is an ill-intentioned move of the Congress to link a highly-patriotic organisation (RSS) to terrorism. The Congress will never succeed in its intention,” said Nadda, who is also in-charge of the party in Chhattisgarh where the BJP has been in power since December 2003.

He also described the term “saffron terror” as anti-national.

“It is anti-national on the part of the Congress to use the terminology saffron terrorism. There is no involvement of RSS people in any blast. The people of India know that RSS people work for the interest and well-being of society,” the 51-year-old politician remarked.

Nadda, who resigned as a cabinet minister from the Himachal Pradesh government in March 2010 on being appointed BJP national general secretary, was also critical of the spiralling prices of essential commodities, which he charged was “being done deliberately by the Congress-led UPA government”.

“The people of India are reeling under the worst-ever price rise because of a bad administration and corrupt intentions of the UPA government. The lack of political will and nexus between corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats and hoarders are the prime reasons for the unprecedented rise in the prices of all essential commodities.”

“There were 11 big scams in the country in the past one year and the attitude of the UPA government to shield the corrupt is getting exposed fast. The recent scams and scandals have eroded the moral authority of the UPA regime,” the BJP leader observed.

He said the BJP as a formidable opposition party was trying to safeguard the interests of the common people by creating a movement against the price rise.

He claimed the previous National Democratic Alliance government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee “was a clean and corruption-free government that had a complete control on price rise”.
