AURANGABAD - Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Wednesday addressed a huge rally here to protest against the police attack on his party legislator and challenged Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and state Home Minister R.R. Patil to confront him directly.
“Just do this and see what happens,” Thackeray thundered at the rally protesting against legislator Harshwardhan Jadhav being assaulted by police for trying to break Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s security cordon Jan 5.
Thackeray cautioned the Nationalist Congress Party duo (Pawar and Patil) against continuously attacking him.
On Jan 5, Jadhav, who was in a vehicle, attempted to break the security cordon of a convoy in which Chavan was travelling in Aurangabad. The police stopped Jadhav and later assaulted him.
Thackeray said that though he did not endorse Jadhav’s action, “the police must also use their might and baton with sense”.
