CHENNAI - Demanding former communications minister A. Raja’s arrest over the 2G spectrum scam and land grab charges, opposition AIADMK cadres held a day’s hunger strike Monday at Perambalur - the town Raja hails from.
Activists of the AIADMK’s student, youth, women and other wings joined in the demonstration.
According to AIADMK, the hunger strike was conducted also to demand probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) and the alleged use of the “scam money to forcibly acquire farm lands belonging to Dalit farmers in the villages near Perambalur for Rs.60,000/acre to be sold to a corporate for Rs.1.8 million/acre”.
The AIADMK also protested irregular supply of drinking water and demanded construction of a bridge across a river near Perambalur.
