NEW DELHI - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded from the Government the arrest of Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and writer Arundhati Roy for their recent objectionable remarks over Kashmir’s integration with India.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function marking the anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India, Anant Kumar demanded legal action against the separatist leader.

“The Central Government, Manmohan Singh-Ji, Chidambaram-Ji, Sonia-Ji, Congress, they all are adopting dilly-dallying against the separatists, we condemn it. People who give statement against India itself, who make efforts against India, legal actions should be taken against (them); Geelani and Arundhati Roy should be arrested for sedition,” said Kumar.

The BJP spokesman also demanded that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir should be made a part of India.

“Our main question here is that what party thinks as a whole, what nation thinks as a whole and what parliament thinks as a whole. The parliament, the party and the people of this country have unanimous opinion that Jammu Kashmir is integral part of India and the PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir), which has been occupied by Pakistan militarily, that has to be taken back. I am putting forth the voice of India, the voice of Bharatiya Janata Party, the voice of Parliament,” said Kumar.

Separatist leader Geelani had questioned the accession of Kashmir to India at a seminar in national capital earlier this week.

The seminar was also attended by noted novelist Arundhati Roy and Maoist sympathiser Varavara Rao, among others. (ANI)
