MELBOURNE - Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s stepdaughter has stripped for a men’s magazine, and she says that it is a very Australian thing to do.
Staci Child, 31, posed for Zoo Weekly magazine in a patriotic bikini with an Australian flag and a ballot box, flaunting her tattoos and toned body.
Child said that her dad has already given the pictures the thumbs up, and is sure that her step mom will also be fine with it.
“When I showed him the photos, he loved them. I think Julia will think it’s a very Australian thing to do,” News.com.au quoted her as saying.
However not everyone is happy with the photoshoot, as it involves the Australian flag, which RSL State President David McLachlan has said should be respected.
“Recognising generational change in opinions, there would be many in the community, including me, that see the use of the flag in this way as most inappropriate,” he stated.
Australians for Constitutional Monarchy spokesman Prof David Flint has also expressed reservations.
“It may be somewhat undignified and not what you would have done but then again you’ve got to allow young people a certain degree of liberty in these sort of things,” he said.
“Apart from questions of good taste or not, that’s not the issue. The issue is that she obviously likes the flag and that’s a good thing,” he added. (ANI)
