Shashi Tharoor Marriage Held

PALAKKAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The ancestral home of former minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor played host to his much-anticipated wedding with Sunanda Pushkar on Sunday morning. The former minister tied the knot in a traditional Malayali wedding ceremony which was held with much elan at Elavanchery village near Palakkad in the state of Kerala. The marriage ceremony of the Congress MP was attended by as many as 300 guests which includes some prominent personalities as well as large number of friends and family members who were present to offer their best wishes to the newly married couple.

During the marriage ceremony, Shashi Tharoor tied the symbolic ‘thali’ around his bride’s neck which bore testimony to their marital bond followed by exchange of garlands at an auspicious moment on Sunday morning. For the occasion, the former external affairs minister chose to wear a traditional Malayali outfit comprising of kurtha and mundu while Sunanda Pushkar decided to go with an off-white veshti-mundu set just like any typical Malayali bride. Sources have revealed that the ceremony was a private affair with friends, family and well-wishers gracing the occasion but as expected the venue was thronged by large number of media-persons who were present to catch a glimpse of the newly-wedded couple.

It has been reported that following the wedding ceremony, the couple would be making a trip to Thiruvananthapuram on August 23. The traditional Malayali wedding of Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Puskhar would be followed by a Kashmiri wedding which is scheduled to be held in Dubai on August 30, as the bride is the daughter of a retired Army official hailing from Kashmir.
