KOLLAM - Abdul Nasser Madani, a leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said on Wednesday that he was ready to cooperate with the police if a non-bailable warrant was produced before him.

“My case is already in court. The court has issued a non-bailable warrant, but we haven’t got the warrant yet. If the police come out with the warrant, I will fully cooperate, because I respect the law, and I respect the court. I am not afraid and am not expecting anything,” said Madani.

A three-member police team from Karnataka arrived in Kerala on Tuesday to arrest Madani and sought the help of the local police to maintain law and order. But following discussions with police officials, they have decided to postpone Madani’s arrest.

Kerala Police officials said that the Karnataka Police team had sought their assistance to arrest Madani at appropriate time and date.

“They have come here to arrest Mr. Madani. We are fully cooperating with the Karnataka Police. Karnataka Police did not mention the date, but whatever they are saying we are fully cooperating,” said Harshida A., Superintendent of Police, Kollam.

After spending nine years behind the bars in connection with the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts, Madani came out of jail in 2007. (ANI)
