Report: Texas mayor shot daughter, herself
COPPELL, Texas — Autopsy reports confirm a Texas mayor shot her daughter and then herself.
The bodies of Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters and her 19-year-old daughter, Corinne Peters, were discovered in their home earlier this month after the mayor failed to show up for a city council meeting.
The Dallas County medical examiner released records on Tuesday that show Peters was several feet behind her daughter when she shot her. The mayor then shot herself in the forehead.
The Dallas Morning News reports the women didn’t have any alcohol or drugs in their systems when they died. The mayor had two patches of the powerful painkiller fentanyl on her back, but the medical examiner’s office found no evidence of it in her system.
