Racism Cooking in Pei wei ?

CHANDLER,ARIZONA (GaeaTimes.Com) — Pei Wei, the self-service Asian diner-chain is under a lot of flak. Recently 12 out of their 30 employees were fired because they attended their rally. The rally was to protest the Arizona SB1070 bill.

The SB 1070 bill makes it a criminal misdemeanor to not be in possession of immigration documents for an alien. The law has led to a widespread outrage from the Hispanic community. They believe that the law promotes racial profiling and makes them vulnerable targets. So the rally to stop the law from passing was highly sensitive, Pei Wei’s decision to sack those 12 Latino employees is being deemed as racist.

We decided not to go to work because we don’t want SB 1070 to go through. It’s nothing against the company. It’s just to show the American people, ‘who’s going to run the restaurants?

In a recently released video it is seen that a ‘white’ employee received a mere slap on the wrist for not attending the work. It is heartening to see that Phoenix IWW members are supporting the fired employees to get back at the restaurant. Reportedly the personnel are not only demanding their jobs back but also an unconditional apology from the Pei Wei authorities.

The Pei Wei officials have categorically denied any such allegations. They maintain that the people were punished for missing their shifts.
