WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Just few days after Gen. David Petraeus fainted while answering the lawmakers on issues related to Iraq war, it seems that the General no doubt felt a little dizzy when the President announced his name to be the military official replacing General Stanley McChrystal. The announcement was made by the President on Wednesday in front of the media sources where he maintained that General Stanley McChrystal’s recent conduct “undermines the civilian control of the military that is at the core of our democratic system”. The General had made scornful remarks on the Administrative officials of the United States.
The announcement means that Gen. David Petraeus who was till date overseeing the military operations of the United States in Middle East and Central Asia will also hold the position of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. However, many have already started questioning the move saying that the change will not make any difference to the military war that is being carried out in Afghanistan against terrorism. Many sources have voiced that the shift that the President has maintained was only at the level of the personnel and not in strategy or policy will most likely see changes in those sectors as well.
As of now all eyes are set on Gen. David Petraeus who is known for being of the strictest and disciplined military official. Not only lawmakers and the opponents but also the public are now anxiously waiting to see what changes does the change in the post entail. The resignation of the former General Stanley McChrystal has been accepted by the President of United States Barack Obama.
