GAZA (GaeaTimes.com)- Around 15 people have been killed today as the Israeli army has intercepted ships carrying pro-Palestinian activists and aid heading towards the Gaza Strip. The news has been confirmed by a private TV network of Israel. A diplomatic furor took place with Turkey, the Muslim ally and some of the ships had its flag reportedly. The passengers on one of the ships reportedly tried to snatch the weapons of the Israeli soldiers which led to the scuffle and subsequent firing. Israel did not want casualties in the mission as it said earlier but that could not be achieved. The western allies of Israel have not taken its stance on Gaza flotilla nicely.

Turkey as one can expect had been critical of the military action taken by Israel to intercept the Gaza flotilla. The Israeli consulate in Istanbul was attacked by stone-throwing protesters who were resisted by the police. Israel has made it clear that it will continue to carry on with its blockade of the Gaza strip and said that it has apprehensions about arms reaching the dreaded Hamas group by sea. Earlier, also it stalled some attempts. The spokespersons and proponents for the Free Gaza Movement that played a role behind sending the flotilla said that it was a condemnable act.

The attack of the Gaza flotilla by the Israeli army has created sensation in the international circles with some nations saying that the UN should intervene. The Israeli media alter reported that in the interception, a number of commandos received minor injuries. The convoy of ships started moving towards Gaza on Sunday from Cyprus.

The David vs Goliath confrontation just invites a public relations nightmare for Israel.

When you get 15 civilians dead and 0 Israeli soldiers dead the public won’t come to the conclusion that this was some sort of fair fight.

Their best response now would be for Israel to apologize for the loss of life, fire the person who ordered the raid and promise an full open investigation.
