West Point Cadets Addressed By US President

NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- Yesterday was a memorable day for the cadets at the West Point Academy as Barack Obama, the President of USA attended the event and delivered a speech prior to congratulating the graduates. He talked at length about the mission the cadets are going to undertake in the terrains of Afghanistan and said that despite the dangers associated with it the cadets should never be disheartened. He also expressed his belief that they will emerge winner at the end. Over 1000 cadets were commissioned for the US army yesterday. In his speech the President said that combat mission in Iraq will positively end by this year. The implication of this is that the cadets will be sent to Afghanistan after receiving their courses.
In Afghanistan the US army is still battling Taliban forces and it is not going to end in anytime soon. The president admitted in his speech that the US army faces an uphill task in Afghanistan about he stressed that the progress made their over the years is significant. The last time when he came to West Point academy the US President hinted that at least 30000 cadets will be required for Afghanistan. In the previous few years, the cadets graduating from the academy have played important roles in combating terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The President also reminded the cadets from the West Point academy terrorism cannot be defeated with military force alone. He stressed that education and infrastructure development are two prerequisites. He later met with the graduates individually at back stage. He talked much with those in exposure in military service.
