HARTFORD (GaeaTimes.com)- On Monday night the Democrat U.S. Senate candidate and the Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal went on to defend his position after a reputed media source brought out a report that claimed that the Attorney General had wrongly stated his military service in Vietnam war. The news source came up with the report along with a video clip that shows Richard Blumenthal at a 2008 event reportedly claiming that he had served “in Vietnam”. Richard Blumenthal on Monday night during his campaign went on to say that the media report is an “outrageous distortion”. The spokeswoman of the media source has however said that it would stick to the report which it has published and posted on its Website.
Richard Blumenthal’s campaign manager Mindy Myers mentioned to media sources in a written statement that Richard Blumenthal had joined the Marine Corps Reserves voluntarily and had then served six months at the Paris Island. The campaign manager also mentioned that Richard Blumenthal has served six years in reserve but did not receive any special treatment from anybody. Richard Blumenthal went on to tell the reporters on Monday that he has repeatedly told the media source that has come up with the report that he has never served overseas during his tenure with Marine Reserve service. He had also mentioned that he had misspoken in the 2008 Norfolk event.
The media source said that the Democrat Senate candidate, Richard Blumenthal had got five postponements to avoid going to the war between 1965 and 1970. This has already created a buzz and the rival Republican leaders are banking on the report that has surfaced.
