Federal Budget Slammed By Australians

AUSTRALIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Federal budget has come under severe criticism from Australians hailing from various economic backgrounds alike. The no frills budget presented by Wayne Swan has Ben criticized for offering nothing new. In his budget the treasurer has devoted extra funds to areas like skills training, renewable energy and health care. The budget for the fiscal year 2010/11 has a deficit of $40.8 billion, as it has been reported. The Business Council of Australia is irate that the government has not implemented its suggestions. The welfare group are also not happy with this budget owing to the tightening of the disability support pension.

Frank Quinlan, the executive director of Catholic Social Services Australia said on the federal budget that it meets economic balance but jeopardizes social balance in turn. Since the government has stressed on the need to improve the health care facility the medical community has welcomed the budget in general. However, they were worried as the areas like mental health have been ignored in the budget. The Australian Medical Association has said that the budget is overall satisfying to them. The measures to increase renewal energy production have also been mentioned in the budget.

However, the measures of the government to give jobs to the unemployed lot have garnered accolades. In the next 4 years an amount of $243 million will be spent after vocational education and training programs. This money will also be used to improve teaching quality and allocate student loans. Super funds, the industry lobby group is happy with the federal budget as the new tax discount policy on individuals has gone down well with them.
