NASHIK - The Maharashtra unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has suspended party MLA Dilip Wagh for his alleged role in a rape case.
Wagh was the party’s MLA from Pachora (Jalgaon District), and has been booked by the Sarkarwada Police in Nashik District yesterday for allegedly raping a 22 year old woman. He is currently on the run.
Police have registered a case against him after the rape victim lodged a complaint stating that Wagh had asked the Aurangabad- based girl to come to Nashik on the pretext of giving her a job.
Wagh and his personal assistant Rajendra Mali allegedly raped the girl at a government guest house.
The woman also claimed that Wagh had threatened her with dire consequences, if she complained to anyone about the incident.
Wagh claims that he has been framed and that the charges filed against him are politically motivated. (ANI)
