Omar tweets on Geelani’s Delhi stay

JAMMU - The indefatigable Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has aired his views on Twitter again - this time on hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani, who has reportedly been asked by Delhi Police not to leave the national capital as he is to be quizzed in a money laundering case.
The provocation was an interview to a foreign correspondent in which Geelani said he was in Delhi and not allowed to go home because the government was putting pressure on him to enter into dialogue.
Geelani said in his interview with Andrew Buncombe who writes a blog for The Independent, London: “They are pressuring me. They are using inhuman, immoral tactics to try and force us to bow and not to raise the voices of the suppressed.”
To this Abdullah tweeted to the journalist: “Interesting interpretation of events & facts. Did you ask him why he doesn’t just record his statement & leave for Srinagar?”
Andrew replied: “(Geelani) Claimed the police had not specified why he could not leave.”
Abdullah said in response: “Interesting because he’s specifically been asked for his statement in the hawala case. Been told to record it & leave freely.”
The chief minister added: “He asked if his lawyer cud represent to which told lawyer can pursue case but law requires that statement be made in person.”
Since Abdullah entered the world of twitterati Jan 9 this year, he has notched up a following of nearly 6,000 on the microblogging site and tweeted hundreds of messages, in restricted phrases as necessitated by the 140-character limit of the medium.
