TRIPOLI/CAIRO - The Tripoli International Airport was functionally normally Tuesday, Libya’s state news agency JANA reported, after speculation that it had been shut to air traffic.

“Flights going in and out of the country are on time,” said head of airport security, Mohamed Abdel-Saeed.

This came as a response to “the false and malicious rumours reported by some media” that Libyan airspace is closed to civilian traffic, said the state news website.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that the runway of Benghazi airport, in the east of the country, had been totally destroyed.
