LONDON - The family of ousted Egyptian president Hosnii Mubarak has reportedly moved to a “secret” address in London, a media report said Thursday.

The London Evening Standard said the deposed leader’s first granddaughter was born in an expensive private hospital in London last year despite recent claims that his son Gamal, 47, no longer lives in the British capital.

Farida was born in March last year at the private Portland Hospital near Regent’s Park. Gamal paid more than 10,000 pounds for the hospital’s most expensive “deluxe suite”.

The baby’s birth certificate states that Farida Gamal Hosni Mubarak was born March 23, 2010, at 209 Great Portland Street to her father Gamal and mother Khadiga, of Wilton Place in Knightsbridge.

After there were rumours that Gamal had escaped to London from Egypt with his family at the height of the civil unrest, he reportedly instructed his British housekeeper to say he had sold the six-floor mansion - worth 8.5 million pounds - years ago and no longer had anything to do with the property.

But family friends have said his wife Khadiga is now living with her daughter at another secret address in the capital.

Gamal has a British passport and in the 1990s worked in the London office of the Bank of America as an investment banker. He later set up his own private equity fund in London, Medinvest, although his role with the company has now ended.

The 82-year-old Hosni Mubarak announced his resignation Feb 11 and is believed to have fled to the coastal Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh with his wife.

Gamal is a regular in London’s finest restaurants and private clubs.

Friends of Khadiga, who know her from her days as an undergraduate at the American University in Cairo, said she was “in love with London” and feels at home there.
