Cairo, Feb 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Egypt’s Higher Military Council, which has been handed over the reins of the country, said Friday it has no plans of assuming long-term power after Hosni Mubarak resigned as president earlier in the day.
“The Higher Military Council is not an alternative to the legal power that would please the Egyptian people,” it said in a statement.
The Higher Military Council also said it would make a number of announcements in the near future on governing the country.
