KOLKATA - West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has warned that action would be immediately taken on the nexus between the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists.

“The state government will no longer wait. We will take action immediately on the basis of evidences of Trinamool’s link with the Maoists which are tumbling out one after the other,” Bhattacharjee said at a rally here on Tuesday.

“I have warned the Trinamool Congress that if they move forward on the same path, the government will not keep quite. If they give shelter to the Maoists and help them, then the government would take stringent action against it as well. We will not shake hands with the Maoists and would surely take action against them,” he added.

Bhattacharjee also said that he would inform Union Home Minister P Chidambaram about the Trinamool-Maoist nexus, which had once again been confirmed after two arrests at a Trinamool-run camp in West Midnapore.

Meanwhile, Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee dubbed Bhattacharjee as the ‘father of Maoists’ and criticised him for threatening her party on alleged nexus with Maoist.

‘He (Bhattacharjee) is the father of the Maoists. He is killing people only to stay in power. Why did they not ban Maoists earlier when they were banned in other states? They have used the Maoists to capture Keshpur (in West Midnapore),’ Banerjee told media persons.

“They are only telling lies. Whenever there is a voice of protest against them they will say he or she is a Maoist. They should remember that in democracy common people speak the last word,’ she said. (ANI)
