Looking forward to formation of Telangana state: BJP

NEW DELHI - After the Justice B.N. Srikrishna commission submitted its report on the Telangana statehood issue, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Thursday said her party supported the carving out of a new state from Andhra Pradesh.

“We are eagerly looking forward to formation of a separate Telangana state,” she posted on her Twitter account.

The Srikrishna panel report on Telangana was Thursday submitted to Home Minister P. Chidambaram, who said that it would be made public Jan 6.

The Srikrishna committee was set up in February to study, among other things, the situation in Andhra Pradesh following protests for a separate Telangana state and the counter-protests that paralysed the state.
