PURULIA - Suspected Maoists shot dead seven ‘Forward Bloc’ workers in West Bengal’s Purulia District on Friday suspecting them to be police informers.

The police here said the ultras picked the seven from their homes in Jhalda late on Thursday night, dragged them to field and shot at close range.

The Maoists reportedly left behind posters at the spot later claiming that the five villagers had been spying for the security personnel.

The Left parties have called for a shut down here to protest against the killings. (ANI)
