BHOPAL - Former Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief K.S. Sudarshan was Friday shown black flags by Congress workers at Indore over his derogatory remarks against Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi.

Sudarshan had Wednesday made several derogatory remarks about Gandhi in Bhopal.

As Congress workers tried to wave black flags at Sudarshan, RSS cadres got into a clash with them. The police had to cane charge the protesters to disperse them.

In Jabalpur, Congress cadres burnt an effigy of Sudarshan and also clashed with RSS supporters. Seeing the tense situation, the administration imposed section 144 in the district that prevents the gathering of five or more people.

In Vidisha, three Congressmen were injured when a clash broke out between party men and police over burning an effigy of Sudarshan.

In state capital Bhopal, Congressmen burnt an effigy of Sudarshan and tried to attack the RSS office.

Reports of Congress protests came in from other parts of the state, like Ujjain and Mandsaur districts.

Director General of Police (DGP) S.K. Raut told IANS: “We are concerned at the developments and are taking every step to prevent clashes. Some minor incidents were reported but we have deployed sufficient forces across the state to prevent further incidents.”
