Sardar Patel remembered on 135th birth anniversary

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 135th birth anniversary here on Sunday.

Dr. Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar along with several Union Ministers and members of Parliament paid floral tributes to former Home Minister Patel at his portrait in the Central Hall of Parliament House.

A booklet containing the profile of Sardar Patel, brought out in Hindi and Englishm was also presented to the dignitaries who were present on this occasion.

Vallabhbhai Patel (1875 to 1950) was a political and social leader of the country. He played a major role in the country’s struggle for independence and guided its integration into a united, independent nation.

He was known as the “Iron Man Of India”. (ANI)
