Maoists kill CPI-Marxist leader in Paschim Medinipur District

BELATIKRI - The Maoists killed a local committee member of the Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPI-M) in Belatikri village in West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur District on Wednesday.

The deceased, Tapan Doloi, was picked up today morning taken into a field and shot dead.

“They (Maoists) came and took him away from his home to attend a meeting regarding some land matter. He was trying to escape but he couldn’t and they killed him,” said Kajal Tudu, Doloi’s neighbour.

The rebels also left behind a note taking responsibility for the killing. The letter claimed that Doloi was a police informer.

Police are investigating the matter and Doloi’s body has been sent to a hospital in Jhargram district for a postmortem. (ANI)
