Badal injured in fall, gets two stitches

CHANDIGARH - Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who sustained minor injuries after he fell at his official residence here Thursday morning, was \”absolutely fine\”, doctors said.

Badal, 82, was rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here by his son and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He sustained mild lacerations above the right eyebrow and soft tissue injury in the chest, a spokesman of the state government, quoting the PGIMER doctors, said.

PGIMER Director K.K. Talwar said: The chief minister needed two stitches for the eye laceration and was admitted in PGI. The X-rays and CT scan do not show any injury. Doctors attending on him said that he was absolutely fine.

Badal was being kept under observation at the PGIMER.

Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, ministers, top bureaucrats and other political leaders called on Badal at the hospital.
