MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh Rane has found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. An NGO activist has lodged a complaint for attempt to murder against the politician’s son but the latter has denied the charges saying that they are trying to frame him.

Chintu Sheikh, who runs the NGO named Swabhiman Sangathana, said that he was shot at in his office at suburban Khar in Mumbai. He also added that Nitesh Rane, his PA, a friend and four body guards thrashed him in his own office. The altercation started reportedly when Nitesh Rane and his men asked Chintu Sheikh to stop distributing sweets in his office. Both the victim and the attackers are known to be a part of the same organization. Chintu Sheikh is presently in the hospital and recovering from the bullet shot that reportedly brushed his cheek.

The police have acknowledged that a case has been registered against Narayan Rane’s son under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. The news could come as a serious blow to Narayan Rane’s political career. Section 307 under the Indian Penal Code stands for Attempt To Murder and if convicted Nitesh Rane could see a serious sentence. The police said that further probe is on and Nitesh Rane has been taken into custody after the complaint. The son of the politician was contacted by the media but refused to comment on the matter. Earlier he said that it was a conspiracy against him. Interestingly, Chintu Sheikh is also an activist for the same political party as Nitesh Rane.
