Nancy Reagan endorses Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is endorsing California Republican candidates Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.
Whitman and Fiorina announced separately Wednesday that each had received Reagan’s endorsement.
Reagan issued a statement through Fiorina’s campaign saying the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co. “knows what needs to be done to move our country forward.”
The 89-year-old wife of the late President Ronald Reagan also says Whitman will be a “good governor.”
Whitman is running against Democratic Attorney General Jerry Brown to be California’s next governor. Fiorina is trying to unseat three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer.
Fiorina’s campaign says she met Reagan in Los Angeles Tuesday. Her campaign posted an online photo of Fiorina and Whitman standing with Reagan.
