Qwest spent $872,874 on lobbying in 2nd quarter

WASHINGTON — Phone company Qwest Communications International Inc. spent $872,874 in the second quarter to lobby the federal government on cybersecurity and other issues, according to a disclosure report.

The lobbying amount was up slightly from the $821,552 it spent a year earlier and the $735,614 it spent in 2010’s first quarter.

Denver-based Qwest lobbied the federal government on legislation involving theft of copper phone lines by scrap metal scavengers and rural broadband access, among others, according to the report it filed July 19.
