Minn. Democrats seek gov candidate to break streak

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Democrats in Minnesota hope Tuesday’s primary election is the first step toward breaking a long losing streak in the governor’s race.

Two Democrats are looking to revive their political careers and a third is hoping to become the state’s first female governor. The one who wins will likely face Republican Tom Emmer, a state legislator who is the heavy favorite in that party’s primary.

Minnesota offers a chance for Democrats to pick up a governorship in what many people think will be a Republican year. The Democrats running in Minnesota include former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton, state House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher and former state House Minority Leader Matt Entenza.
