Zardari’s UK trip more damaging than Cameron’s anti-Pak tirade : Sharif

ISLAMABAD - Blasting President Asif Ali Zardari for continuing with his plans to visit London and hold talks with British Prime Minister David Cameron, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the President’s acts have let down the country more than Cameron’s recent ‘terror export’ jibe against Islamabad.
Talking to reporters in Charsadda, one of the worst hit areas in the devastating floods that have affected over three million people and killed nearly 1500, Sharif said Zardari should have been in the country to deal with the situation arising after the massive calamity.
“We have been let down very badly by Mr Zardari. We have been let down more by him than the statement by David Cameron,” The Dawn quoted Sharif, as saying.
Zardari has come under scathing attack from the opposition and other quarters for undertaking a foreign visit at a time when the nation is struggling to cope with the worst floods in the last 80 years.
Many have described Zardari’s London trip as a ‘political trip’ aimed at launching his son-Bilawal’s political career.
The chief of the main opposition party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), also criticised the Pakistan People’s party (PPP) led government, saying it has failed completely to come to the rescue of thousands of flood victims.
“The government has failed to perform its duty in the crisis. They should have used all their resources to help the flood victims,” Sharif said. (ANI)
