Chhattisgarh has about 12,000 prisoners

RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh has 11,839 jail inmates as against a capacity of 4,739, the state assembly was informed Tuesday.

“As of now, a total of 11,839 inmates have been kept in the state’s 15 jails as against their combined capacity of 4,739 prisoners,” state Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar told the house in reply to a question from opposition Congress member Haridas Bhardwaj.
