GANDHINAGAR - Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday distributed the portfolios held by former minister of state for home Amit Shah amongst three of his ministers.

While Finance Minister Vajubhai Wala was given transport, Agriculture Minister Dilip Sanghani was handed over law, judiciary and parliamentary affairs. Minister of State for Water and Cooperation Parbat Patel was given charge of home guards and police housing.

The chief minister, who also holds the home portfolio, did not appoint any junior minister for this department.

Shah, who resigned Saturday, has been arrested in connection with the 2005 killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh. The Gujarat anti-terrorism squad (ATS) has been accused of killing Sheikh in a staged shootout Nov 26, 2005, in Ahmedabad. His wife Kauser-bi has been missing ever since.

Shah has been accused of calling up policemen involved in the killing of Sheikh, who police claimed was a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative.
