GANDHINAGAR - Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Saturday forwarded the resignation of his Minister of State for Home Amit Shah, allegedly involved in the 2005 staged killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, to Governor Kamla Beniwal, recommending it be accepted.

He had announced the resignation in New Delhi earlier, where he went to attend the 55th meeting of the National Development Council, the country’s top policy forum.

“Amit Shah has sent his resignation to my bungalow. I will complete the formalities after returning from here. I accept his resignation,” Modi told reporters in the national capital.

Shah is one of the 18 named in the chargesheet by the Central Bureau of Investigation for the Nov 26, 2005 killing of Sheikh in an alleged fake gunfight outside Ahmedabad.
