GUJARAT, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Gujarat’s minister of state for home Amit Shah resigned from his post in the state’s ministry on Saturday. The announcement was made by Narendra Modi in New Delhi before the Gujarat Chief Minister attended the National Development Council meeting in the capital.

Amit Shah, considered the right hand of Narendra Modi in the Gujarat ministry, has resigned from his post following a criminal charge made against him by the Gujarat police officials and the CBI. It has been alleged that Amit Shah is guilty of kidnapping and murdering gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi back in the year 2005. Though nothing in this regard has been proved in court as of yet, many are of the opinion that the resignation which came today shows that the politician is guilty. Narendra Modi however refuses to accept the fact, saying that he accepted the resignation letter only because the Indian Constitution directs him to do so.

Amit Shah said that he will fight the case in court, adding that he has total faith in the judicial system of the country and that the system will deliver him justice sooner or later. His lawyers have announced that they will file papers in the Gujarat High Court very soon. It has been reported that after submitting his resignation, police have not been able to trace the whereabouts of Amit Shah.

In a statement made to the media after the resignation of Amit Shah, Narendra Modi said that the charges which have been made against his aide is a conspiracy by the Congress party, alleging that the CBI was also working for the ruling party of India.
