ISLAMABAD - Britain will increase its development aid to Pakistan to 665 million pounds (about $989 million) over the next four years, visiting British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Wednesday.

“This would include 250 million pounds for education programme and 50 million pounds to support stabilization and reconstruction in areas affected by conflict,” Hague said at a joint press conference with Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Xinhua reported.

He said Britain is keen to deepen its strategic dialogue with Pakistan, adding that the aid to Islamabad is to build a stable, prosperous and democratic Pakistan.
