TOKYO - Japan’s Consumer Affairs Minister Mizuho Fukushima was Friday sacked from the cabinet by Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, media reports said.

Fukushima, who is also a leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was sacked after he refused to sign the cabinet resolution on relocation of the US Futenma base, Xinhua reported citing a statement from state broadcaster NHK.

Futenma is a US Marines base located in Ginowan city on Okinawa island.
