Tibetan exiles’ meet to discuss candidate for PM-in-exile

DHARAMSALA - Members of the National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT), the only political party of Tibetan exiles, gathered here to discuss a candidate for the post of Tibetan prime minister-in-exile.

The elections of the Kalon Tripa (Tibetan PM) will be held in September.

The functionaries of the NDPT, from different parts of India and Nepal, participated in the third general body meeting to deliberate last year’s report of the party and also the candidate for PM.

“The election of the Kalon Tripa (Tibetan PM) is going to take place and also parliamentary elections is going to take place next year. The preliminary will start this year in June. Therefore, the party is discussing whom to put up as candidate,” said Thubten N. Pema Lama, former secretary of NDPT.

Samdhong Rinpoche, elected in 2001, is the current Tibetan PM-in-exile. (ANI)
