Obama to host jobs summit

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama puts the focus on jobs Thursday.

After his usual morning briefings, Obama will host what the White House is calling the “Jobs and Economic Growth Forum.” He’ll deliver opening remarks, then hear from CEOs, small business owners and labor leaders, along with the heads of a number of nonprofit organizations.

With the nation’s unemployment rate at 10.2 percent, the highest since 1983, Obama is looking for ideas on how to stoke the economic recovery in a way that puts more Americans back to work.

In the evening, Obama and his family are scheduled to attend the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on the Ellipse.
