NEW DELHI - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday said President Pratibha Patil’s address to the joint session of parliament was “insipid”, “non-inspirational” and “a mere list of government schemes and programmes”.

“The government failed to show the direction to the nation on the vital issues concerning the crisis of governance… the president’s address to the joint session referred to each of the issues which have been a part of the opposition’s agenda, but regrettably it failed to provide answer to any of these issues,” BJP leader S.S. Ahluwalia told reporters.

He said the government is expected to make an announcement about formation of a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) on the 2G scam Tuesday followed by a discussion Feb 24.

A motion on setting up a JPC will be moved after discussion on the motion of thanks on the president’s address.
