Museveni re-elected Uganda’s president

WAKISO - Yoweri Museveni was Sunday declared the winner in Uganda’s presidential election, giving him a sixth five-year term in office.

According to the official results issued by the electoral commission, Museveni garnered 68.38 percent of the votes at the Friday election, Xinhua reported.

Besides Museveni, seven others were vying for Uganda’s top job.

Kizza Besigye, Museveni’s main rival, stood second with 26.01 percent of the votes while Nobert Mao recieved 1.86 percent votes for the third spot in the elections.

Museveni has been serving as the Ugandan president since Jan 26, 1986.
