CAIRO - Embattled Egyptian President Thursday night said that he would not take instructions from others.

In a televised address, Mubarak said “we don’t take instructions from others and we will prove this”, in an apparent reference to pressure mounted by the US and other Western countries seeking an orderly and peaceful transition in the country.

He added that “as the president of the republic I am not embarrassed to listen to the youth of this country”, while referring to the intense protests that have swept across the country to seek his ouster.
