NEW DELHI - The Srikishna report, which looked into the demand for a separate state of Telangana, is being translated into Telugu and will be soon available to people in the official language of Andhra Pradesh, Home Ministry sources said Thursday.

They said that the government wanted widest dissemination of the report for an informed debate and provide correct data about development in various regions of the state.

The sources said the translation is being done by the Andhra Pradesh government and the document is expected to be put on the website in “a day or two”.

The 461-page report of the Srikrishna Committee, which was made public Thursday after meeting of political parties convened by Home Minister P. Chidambaram, is in two volumes and nine chapters.

The chapters cover issues like developments in Andhra Pradesh - A historical background, regional economic and equity analysis, education and health, water resources, irrigation and power development, public employment issues, issues relating to Hyderabad metropolis, sociological and cultural issues, and law and order, and internal security dimensions.

The committee, headed by former Supreme Court judge B.N. Srikrishna, was constituted Feb 3, 2010 following sharp political divisions in the state on the question of formation of new state.

The report in its summary has given six options including the most workable option of keeping the state united while providing certain definite constitutional measures for socio-economic development of Telangana including a regional council.
