Vishnunadh elected Kerala Youth Congress president

KOCHI - The Kerala unit of the Youth Congress Tuesday elected P.C. Vishnunadh as its president, a party official said. The organisational elections were held after 30 years.

Vishnunadh, 32, is a first time Congress legislator from the Chengannur assembly constituency in Alappuzha district.

He defeated his rival M. Liju, a former nominated president of the Youth Congress, by 113 votes.

Vishnunadh is a close aide of leader of opposition Oommen Chandy, who has been battling intra-party factionalism.

Vishnunadh was earlier the president of the Congress-affiliated Kerala Students Union.
