RANCHI - The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Wednesday celebrated winning one seat in the Bihar assembly elections.

“Our party nominee Sumit Singh won Chakai assembly seat. We fought for the first time in the Bihar assembly after Jharkhand was carved out from it in 2000. We fought 68 assembly seats and won one,” Supriyo Bhattacharya, JMM central committee member, told IANS.

“We are happy with the outcome and in future we will strengthen our party organisation in Bihar,” Bhattacharya added.

The JMM is ruling in Jharkhand in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In a historic electoral triumph Wednesday, Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United-BJP alliance bagged 83 percent of the Bihar assembly seats.
