NEW DELHI - The Delhi assembly witnessed uproarious scenes Tuesday on the opening day of the winter session with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding a house panel probe into the state government’s alleged lapses in the organisation of the Commonwealth Games (CWG).

Soon after the house paid homage to the victims of the Nov 15 building collapse in east Delhi, Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra demanded setting up of a house committee.

There have been three prior occasions when a house committee has been formed in Delhi assembly. The spending of a whopping amount of Rs.23,000 crore by the Delhi government should be probed, said Malhotra.

Malhotra was joined by his party members in his demand who then rushed towards Speaker Yoganand Shastri’s chair. Following this, Shastri adjourned the house for 20 minutes.
